Here’s a fun website to bookmark that can supplement your math curriculum: Tutor Bot!
Tutor Bot is part of Tutor Hunt, a London-based company (which is why you’ll notice some different spelling and phrases), and offers free online math games for elementary-age students.
Over 100 different, customizable games are featured in sixteen categories, from basic addition and subtraction to roman numerals. Simple questions are asked in each category, and students type in answers, all within a time limit.
Students can enter their name and and animated character to represent them, and most games even feature some fun animation as well. Students play against the computer as they race to meet or exceed the rate it answers the questions as well.
Over 1000 schools currently use the site. We tried out most of the games, and found them to be a great way for students to improve their mathematical skill, accuracy and speed.
One of the games, in which students count out currency in British pounds, may not be the best choice for American students (remember, Tutor Bot is based in London), but the other games are great.
