Our Picks For The Best Summer Reading Rewards Programs Available Nationwide

Summer Reading Program

With summer nearing, we’ve compiled some of the best rewards-based summer reading programs to keep your students engaged with books over their summer vacation!

If you find any additional programs we can include here, be sure to send us a message through our “About Us” page, and we’ll add it to the list!

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading

Students in grades first through sixth can print out the Reading Journal available on their site, and then read eight books from their list, which includes a number of classics.

After writing briefly about the books they have read, students can turn in the journal at a local Barnes & Noble and receive a free book of their choice off of the reading list!

Click here to visit the Barnes & Noble website to get the reading list and more details on the program!

Books-A-Million

Books-A-Million is already a great place to take young readers to discover new books, and their Summer Reading Program is a partnership with author Dav Pilkey.

After reading four books on the BAM summer reading list, students can fill out the printable logbook from the BAM website and turn it in at a local store for a free Dog Man backpack!

Click here to visit the Books-A-Million website for the book list and printable logbook!

Chuck E. Cheese

Chuck E Cheese Reading program

When kids read a book a day for two weeks, they can fill out a Rewards Calendar available from the Chuck E. Cheese website and turn it in at any location for ten free play points in their game room.

Click here to visit the Chuck E. Cheese Parents Resource Center for more information on the program. You’ll have to choose your closest location to access the Reading Calendar for that location.

Imagination Library

Founded by singer Dolly Parton, the Imagination Library isn’t a Summer Reading Program per se, but it does provide a free book each month to children up to the age of five.

Students in the United States can register online (with the help of their parents) with a local partner in their state, and a free book will be mailed to them each month.

Click here to visit the Imagination Library website and find a local partner to register for free books.

Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut Book It Summer reading

Pizza Hut’s “Book It” Program offers a Summer Reading Reward of a single-topping Personal Pan Pizza when students hit their reading goal.

Unlike the teacher-led “Book It” program held during the year, parents administer the summer program. They will need to download the Book It app to their phone, set goals, and track progress.

Once the reading goal is met, the student can then go to a participating restaurant and get their free pizza.

Click here to visit the Pizza Hut Book It website for more information and download the Book It app to your phone.

If you know of any additional Summer Reading Programs that we can add to this list, be sure to send us a message through our “About Us” page and we’ll add it!
